Custom Staining Since not every wood is suited to being stained, we urge you to let our well-versed hardwood flooring experts at Anderson's Hardwood Floors walk you through this process. Stain refers to solid particles of pigment suspended in a solvent, applied to wood to change or darken its natural color. The application of a “stain” is unlike almost any other “finish” process because it requires being rubbed onto the wood with a soft cloth --- and then immediately wiped off. But this won't work with exotic woods such as maple, cherry and birch. Do you know what kind of flooring you have? As part of our home evaluation we will determine the exact type to insure that the color you expect will be the color that's on the floor.
